Construction Aggregate Calculator. Enter the width, length, thickness, and product density and hit the “Calculate” button to calculate your estimate. If you do not know the product density, use the optional density estimator* or contact a local sales representative.
Gravel, dry 1/4 to 2 inch weighs 1.682 gram per cubic centimeter or 1 682 kilogram per cubic meter, i.e. density of gravel, dry 1/4 to 2 inch is equal to 1 682 kg/m³. In Imperial or US customary measurement system, the density is equal to 105.0038 pound per cubic foot lb/ft³ , or 0.97226 ounce per cubic inch oz/inch³ .
For aggregates, density is determined by multiplying the relative density specific gravity of the aggregate times the density of water. Bulk Density of Aggregate 1 The bulk density or unit weight of an aggregate is the mass or weight of the aggregate that required to fill a container of a specified unit volume.
The densities of rocks and minerals are normally expressed as specific gravity, which is the density of the rock relative to the density of water. This isn& 39;t as complex as you may think because water& 39;s density is 1 gram per cubic centimeter or 1 g/cm 3. Therefore, these numbers translate directly to g/cm 3, or tonnes per cubic meter t/m 3 .
Most aggregates have a relative density between 2.4-2.9 with a corresponding particle density Mass of 2400-2900 kg / m 3 150-181 lb / ft 3 . Here, for coarse aggregates, the standard test method was explained in ASTM C 127 AASHTO , and, for fine aggregates, the standard test method was explained in ASTM C 128 AASHTO .
Concrete, Gravel: 150 lb/ft 3: 2,400 kg/m 3: Crushed Stone: 100 lb/ft 3: 1,600 kg/m 3: Earth, loam dry excavated: 90 lb/ft 3: 1,440 kg/m 3: Earth, packed: 95 lb/ft 3: 1,520 kg/m 3: Glass, window: 161 lb/ft 3: 2580 kg/m 3: Gravel, loose, dry: 95 lb/ft 3: 1,520 kg/m 3: Gravel, with sand: 120 lb/ft 3: 1,920 kg/m 3: 3/8 inch Gypsum or Plaster Board
What is the density of gravel? The density of typical gravel is 105 lb/ft 3 1680 kg/m 3 . This corresponds to gravel with average sized pebbles and is the number used in the calculator. How much does a yard 3 of gravel weigh? A cubic yard of typical gravel weighs about 2830 pounds or 1.42 tons.
Density of Different Construction Materials Density of construction materials are its mass per unit volume of materials. It is expressed in kg/m3 or lb/ft3 and shows compactness of building material. Density is also called as unit weight of substance.
The density of pure water is also 62.4 lbs/cu.ft pounds per cubic foot and if we know that ammonium nitrate has a sg of 0.73 then we can calculate that its density is 0.73 x 62.4 = 45.552 lbs/cu.ft.
The 150-180 density data comes from a "Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures" book and appears to refer to the "particle" density of aggregate. However, since the aggregate is made up of particles, it is reasonable that the compacted density of the aggregate is between 150-180 lb/ft^3 .
